Rovers U13 played a title deciding Bank Holiday Monday fixture at home to Cadbury Athletic. With both teams on equal points, the title went to the wire…
Infront of an estimated 120 supporters, the scene was set for a title deciding game.
The game had just as much riding on it than the showdown of Liverpool vs Arsenal back in 1989, where Arsenal needed to win by 2 goals or more. They were the away team that night, let’s hope the home team would come out on top on this occasion.
The game started in a cautious fashion by Rovers but they dusted themselves off and soon got into their stride. The game had many tough challenges, one which saw a straight red to a Cadbury player for a bad challenge on a Rovers player, who was rushed to hospital for stitches.
The outcome of the game? Rovers went in 2-1 to the good at the break. Their never-say-die attitude and high energy took the game to Cadbury who were eventually on the recieving end of a 4-1 scoreline.
David Darmen was in breathtaking form, grabbing a hatrick. Rovers other goal came from a Shemaiah Campbell thunderbolt. The entire team were outstanding and got the job done in a prolific fashion.
They all deserved Man of The Match for their displays all over the pitch. A job well done.
